NRA Basic Pistol Class
Connecticut Pistol Permit
Congratulations on deciding to get your Pistol Permit. Connecticut pistol permit class requirements are met by our open enrollment NRA Basic Pistol class or a private session at your home or business. (This class also meets New York, Florida, and many other states' requirements). FTI offers a fun, down to earth course without the attitude you will find in so many other venues. We provide a realistic look at firearm ownership and focus on the things you need to know as a new member of the lawfully armed populous.
Our classes fill quickly. Those of you referred to us already know why.
This is serious subject matter and the only formal training required. Make an intelligent decision. Use an insured, legitimate business with an experienced and highly educated staff.

Classes with a location of Stamford are hosted by Stamford Tactical, taught by FTI instructors. Pricing and availability are at the discretion of Stamford Tactical.
All students will receive range time with multiple firearms and will leave with their own set of safety gear (safety glasses and ear muff style hearing protection).
This is the easiest way to get a gun permit in Connecticut, and FTI will be with you through the entire process. We are licensed and insured, and our staff of certified instructors is dedicated to helping you become a responsible gun owner. We will assist you in obtaining your permit, purchasing your first firearm, and we can provide additional training for skill development, home defense, and personal protection.
FTI limits the instructor to student ratio so everyone will have ample access to a certified instructor. After taking our class, you will be able to apply for a Connecticut State Pistol Permit and will gain a comprehensive understanding of firearm safety, operation, and shooting fundamentals.
Topics covered include:
- Firearm Components and General Knowledge
- Safe Handling of Firearms

Most venues have a brief live fire period using only a few shots through a 22 caliber pistol. While this may be a good starting point to meet the minimum requirement, it does not prepare you for the vast array of firearms available. To make the most of this experience, we provide a number different firearms for everyone to try. All firearms are made available to anyone who wants to shoot them. No one is required to shoot anything that makes them uncomfortable. The range session is held at either Bridgeport Shooting Range or Wolf's Range in Bristol, whichever is closest to the class location. Here are some firearms that are most often used in the class:
